Fall Family Bucket list

I am obsessed with all things fall (apple picking, pumpkin patches, falling leaves, Halloween) and the idea of a Fall Family Bucket List was something I wanted to put together this year. Using the dream catcher I made a few weeks ago, I was able to incorporate our bucket list into a gorgeous looking wall decor piece as well.

I will admit the most challenging part of this project was coming up with a list of things to do each day. If you are a planner and like to know what is happening each and every day, then you can use the numbers on the items as a day to day calendar where the kids will chose the number according to the day and that is the item to be done that day. If you are more spontaneous like me, you can simply use the numbers as a list of items to choose from and choose at random. I will caution you…be sure to make your list of items a list of things you know you can complete each day so you don’t have disappointed kiddos. Don’t over think the list…items can be as simple as “family game night” or “make a craft” or as specific as “go apple picking” or “carve pumpkins”. Get creative and have fun!

You will need:

  • Number stickers (I like having a variety of styles and colors)
  • Notecards with envelopes
  • Notecards
  • Hanging tags
  • Pouch favor bags (I found these in the wedding section of the craft store)
  • Mini clothespins
  • Markers
  • Candy or trinkets

1. First, you will want to write out your list of activities and figure out if you want to plan it out by day or just random. I planned for 31 days so that there was one for each day but you can do less if you don’t want to do something every day. Keep in mind that some days will have candy or trinkets as opposed to an activity so you don’t need exactly 31 activities.

2. Attach numbers to all the tags, pouches,  notecards, and envelopes as you would like. I tried to mix and match my number fonts and colors to make sure I had a good mix of all of them.

3. Now get to writing all those activities on the notecards and tags. I prefer to put the more exciting activities in the envelopes so that sneaky kids can’t cheat! You will then fill the pouches with candy, treats, or trinkets as well.

4. Now it’s time to attach all the notecards, pouches, and tags to the dream catcher. I used mini clothespins and just clipped them randomly to the yarn on the dream catcher. You can put them on in order if you would like, but I preferred them at random so the kids have to search for the number.

The look on your kids’ eyes when they see all the activities they are going to get to do this fall will be worth it. I love that this looks beautiful hanging in the room while building anticipation daily for the season. What are your bucket list fall activities?

Be sure to check back for my Christmas Advent Calendar update to this dream catcher as well!
